Yes, we can migrate your website to our web server at no extra cost.

If it’s NOT a WordPress site:

We can review your website with you to see how complex it would be to move.  A simple HTML coded website should be fairly easy to move.  If your site is built in another platform then most likely it would need to be rebuilt in some way to work on our web server.  Perhaps reach out to us and we can investigate the options available. 

In some cases we’ve even just rebuilt a site in WordPress at no additional cost to work on our server.

Support & Popularity:

It is estimated that WordPress powers over 40% of all websites in the world.
Since it is open-source, there is a wide developer community that continually produces
updates to the core WordPress system. 

Extensibility:

Due to it’s popularity, there are thousands upon thousands of plugins that have been written
that you can install into WordPress to give it more functionality. Some of the most common 
plugins include those to sell products, accept payments online, host a membership site, etc.
The options really are endless. If you need a particular functionality or integration for your website,
there is a good chance there is a plugin for it!

While there are other good website builder options like those mentioned above, the main advantage
of WordPress is that it is open-source and the code is available to everyone.

While other platforms can build nice looking websites too, if you wanted to incorporate something custom you might run into a roadblock down the road if that platform does not offer that particular functionality.

Since WordPress is open-source, any custom functionality can either be added via a plugin that someone has already written or a new plugin could be written by someone with knowledge of the PHP programming language (including Douma Web Design). 

There are 2 main reasons why it’s important to keep your WordPress and Plugins up to date.

1. WordPress and Plugins for WordPress will regularly publish software updates to add new functionality, fix bugs found by the community, or patch security vulnerabilities that may have been found. Updating provides you with the latest features and protection.
   
   
2. Over time, as the servers are updated with the latest versions, they may retire support for older functions used by earlier versions of WordPress or Plugins. Keeping WordPress and Plugins up to date ensures your site also keeps up to date with the latest technology.

On a WordPress website – yes you can! 

We can provide you with admin access to your website where you can add or edit any pages on your website.

We are currently using a third-party plugin on all of our websites to make editing pages and creating new content fairly easy.

We’d be more than happy to send you a demo showcasing how quick and easy it is to create nice looking web pages.

There are many free plugins available to extend your website built on WordPress.
Many of these plugins also have paid options to extend their feature set offered to you.

Douma Web Design includes some third-party paid plugins offered to you as part of your hosting with us.

There may be additional functionality you want to achieve with your website through a third-party paid plugin specific to your business.  The additional costs for these plugins are not included with the hosting costs listed above and are often paid directly to the developer as annual licensing.

From time to time it is possible to have an error appear on your website when:

1. Most common: WordPress or Plugin updates are neglected for a time, and the server technology (as it’s updated automatically) no longer supports those earlier versions.
2. An update to WordPress is applied and an issue occurs
3. An update to a Plugin is applied and an issue occurs

As part of the Enterprise package, Douma Web Design will resolve any incompatibility errors (at no additional charge) to keep your site running at the latest versions possible without issues.

There is a Basic Website Hosting plan that can be used mainly for legacy web systems and custom HTML sites with no admin functionality to edit page content. The speeds of this server are acceptable for sites that don’t change a lot but not recommended if you want to edit pages often, or are running an online store.

It is a no-frills server hosting option – with add-ons if you need any extras

A note on other web hosting:
Web hosting prices from other vendors can vary significantly based on things like

• the server type (shared hosting or dedicated hosting)
• the amount of resources available to your website (limited by page views or server memory)
• whether the host will install updates for you (managed vs unmanaged hosting)
• the level of support and reachability they provide
• whether they include or charge extra for site monitoring, and site fixing if malware is found
• first year promotional offers that increase in subsequent years
